In my last post I had discovered Magento ecommerce.
In the months since then I have become more and more enamoured with it.
It is now my opinion that osCommerce is dead in the water, even if v3 does ever get released.
That means my focus will be switching.
I have already started skinning my own Magento themes, one of which is on show here. Bear in mind it is still work in progress.
It is quite a departure from the default Magento theme, with cleaner lines and the clutter eliminated.
Magento is scheduled to be released within the next few days (before 31st March), and I for one can’t wait.

agreed. oscommerce is toast. i will share my starts and fits with the MAGENTO code base on my blog. i will also read yours to see how you do with the code.

I too have been playing with Magento, and osCommerce, and I have to disagree with you guys, Magento has a lot of potential, really it does, but oscommerce has a lot of code, contribs, documentation, and I believe that osCommerce with the right contributions kan kick some serious but!

Nice spam, Riaan… but the underlying code for OSC with very outdated…
I like Magento and it seems extremely robust and such… My only gripe is that it’s a *huge* installation and they don’t seem to provide a system for running multiple *independent* storefronts off of the same install (a la the Drupal CMS)…
But I will definitely be looking into it more in the future as you said, OSC is dead in the water and has been for quite some time. Guess it’s time to shop for a new domain name, eh?

Seems like it ..
All the best with it though .. Maybe you should consider ecommerce-tips or the like, something a little broader, that way if you end up not liking magento you can still carry on with the domain name? another suggestion is to review multiple shopping carts ..

Hi Guys,
Yup a new domain is in order :). I will be transferring this blog over to my business site, www.flowstack.com as soon as I can.
Looking forward to Magento 1.1 as well, which is out at the end of the month!
